EDIT 11/03/08: I finally got round to inking it, so you can actually see what's going on! Shading's still faint though...

Meet Dirk Orbman, Private Investigator. He was just a sketch I was doing to pratcice a bit of shading work, but after finishing the piece, I was struck with inspiration!

Here's an idea that no-one else has done (to my knowledge): 50s style organised crime that uses magic!

Here's the background story of Dirk: he was an average cop who messed with the wrong mobsters, and got his face stolen for his troubles. Now he works under the radar as a Private Investigator to try and gain info about mobster magic, how to fight it, and how to get his revenge.

I've got at least one more picture of Dirk Orbman (pronounced "Orbm'n" if you please) coming soon, and even though my drawing skills are frankly crap, I'll try to draw a few scenes of mob bosses using magic and stuff. It's gonna be great.

Nice work. I like the jacket and hat goodness, and it's a great idea. I'll look forward to seeing Dirk Orbman again soon!

Although I just created a character called Dirk... Dammit!

I already did ;) I hope ya don't mind I left him in cool grey-scale film-noir look, as I couldn't find any colour ref for 'im ^-^ (he looks badass that way anyway!) :)

Good to see you using this character. If you have seen another artist draw your character well and would like to use that as the reference pic for AFL, you can use that aswell or instead. :)
